There are no doubts about the fitness of former beauty queen Gul Panag. She has an energetic schedule which she is able to manage only because she aims towards ‘wellness’ and not towards just being ‘fit’. Even after wedding, her attitude towards ‘wellness’ has not dimmed, rather she is actively following her regime so that she can ‘marginally remain active at 70’.
While campaigning got hectic for her and there was a huge time crunch, she kept a check on her diet. This commitment to fitness, rather wellness, is so that she has enough energy to invest in her work and well-being. What she’s doing today is “as much to prevent disease today as it is to prevent the loss of muscle and bone mass, diabetes, and heart disease in the future-I’m doing it more for longevity,” she says with clear conviction.
She adds, “Fitness is a word I used in my 20s, now it is about wellness. It’s also about the way you approach food and the way you eat.”
Gul does justice to many roles: animal-lover, biker, adrenaline junkie, activist, traveler, adventurer. She is often seen taking part in city-based marathon races. So what is it which keeps her going throughout her busy schedule and what keeps her enthusiastic all the time. The secret to this lies in her fitness regimen and disciplined lifestyle.
