Gul Panag, who hails from Punjab, is excited about doing her first Punjabi film, titled Sarsa.
After starring in some noticeable hindi films such as Dor, Manorama Six Feet Under and Turning 30 to name a few, she has signed Sarsa, to be directed by renowned Punjabi director Jitendra Mauhar,
who earlier directed the critically acclaimed film Mitti, which marked the debut of singer Mika Singh as an actor.
The film is about campus politics and the headstrong girl is excited to play the character of a strong and independent girl in the film. “I’ve wanted to do a Punjabi film for four-five years now. I loved the script of the film,” said the actor, adding: “It is a content heavy film with the right mix of entertainment and social message. I just had to do it. It speaks of how student politics is the microcosm for the bigger macrocosm of state politics. It also touches upon drugs, a problem very rampant in the youth of the state.”
The film’s cast includes some renowned actors from Punjab, such as Victor John, Yad Grewal, Manav Vij and Kartar Cheema, who plays a key character.
