Ram Gopal Varma’s multi-starrer Rann has an enviable starcast. Amitabh Bachchan may be the biggest name there, but actors like Gul Panag also make an impact with their role in the film.
It’s always safer for small stars to be a part of multi-starrer film which has big names attached to it. But there is a little responsibility and hard work, so that your presence should be felt in the film.
Rann is one such film which, in spite of accommodating a dozen odd characters, still has Amitabh Bachchan dominating the frames. If the promos are any indication, Big B would be clearly spearheading the entire show, despite the fact that one does catch a glimpse of some other characters. So, we contacted Gul Panag, as we can’t see her in the promos, but she feels that her role is too strong in the film.
“Just because the promos aren’t quite giving out my role in the film, it is untrue that I have a minimal presence. I believe it is good promotion because so many times it happens that promos put you all over, but when people walk into theatres, they are left searching for you. At least that’s not the case here. You should wait and watch before arriving at any conclusion,” says Gul, who has always been known for choosing her roles quite carefully.
“I am grateful that Ram Gopal Varma has given me a platform where I am sharing the screen with Big B. I am fine that I have a small role in the film, but my role is important to the plot. I don’t care about whether I am there in the promo or not. Yes, Rann is a film about men and their wars. But, having said that, someone like Ramu won’t cast me in a role which won’t be remembered after the show commences,” she defends her role.
